The Federal Government of Nigeria has approved the allocation of ₦4 billion to each of 12 selected universities for the rehabilitation of engineering workshops, procurement of modern equipment, and overall upgrades to engineering and technology faculties. This initiative, totaling ₦48 billion, was announced by the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, on Monday, March 2, 2026, during the inauguration of the Implementation Committee on Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) Special High-Impact Intervention Projects in Abuja.

The funding aims to bridge the skills gap, enhance practical training for engineering students, and transform Nigerian universities into hubs of innovation and technology development.
