While the commission maintains that the viral screenshots and posts were the result of a coordinated disinformation campaign and digital impersonation, several cybersecurity experts have publicly challenged the depth and methodology of the investigation. Critics, including prominent security analysts, argue that the report relies too heavily on surface-level Open Source Intelligence rather than deep technical forensics such as device fingerprints, IP login histories, or internal platform logs from X.

The debate intensified as independent experts pointed out that the commission’s findings, which cited a thirteen-minute timestamp anomaly as proof of fabrication, failed to provide verifiable audit trails or hash values common in professional digital investigations. Although the commission’s Director of ICT, Lawrence Bayode, confirmed the matter has been referred to security agencies for further tracking of the alleged impersonators, the lack of a transparent, multi-layered technical disclosure has left a segment of the cybersecurity community skeptical.
