Former Anambra State governor and Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has made a bold commitment to significantly improve Nigeria’s electricity sector if given the opportunity to lead the country.

In a recent statement, Obi declared that with four years in power, his administration would increase the nation’s power supply to 10,000 megawatts, a target he believes is achievable through deliberate policies, investment in infrastructure, and efficient management of the energy sector.

Obi emphasised that reliable electricity remains critical to Nigeria’s economic growth, industrialisation, and overall development. He argued that the persistent power shortages have continued to hinder small and medium enterprises, discourage foreign investments, and limit productivity across all sectors.

According to him, addressing the power challenge is not only possible but necessary to unlock the enormous potential of the Nigerian economy and create millions of jobs for the teeming youth population.

The former presidential candidate assured Nigerians that his approach would focus on practical solutions, including upgrading existing power infrastructure, promoting renewable energy sources, and ensuring transparency in the management of the power value chain.

He called on citizens to support visionary leadership that prioritises measurable results over empty promises, stressing that sustainable power supply would transform agriculture, healthcare, education, and manufacturing in the country.
