U.S. Lawmaker Accuses Defence Minister Matawalle of Bribery Attempt

Kimberly Daniels, a member of the Florida House of Representatives, has accused Nigeria’s Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, of attempting to bribe a U.S. official to suppress a report regarding “Christian genocide” in northern Nigeria. In a viral broadcast, Daniels alleged that individuals connected to the minister tried to “buy support” to change the narrative surrounding the report.

Daniels claims to possess evidence of these attempts to influence U.S.-based officials. While these allegations have ignited significant debate, reports indicate that no formal evidence has been presented, and U.S. authorities have not yet initiated an official investigation.

These accusations add to existing pressure on the Nigerian government to investigate the minister, who has previously faced allegations of corruption and ties to criminal activity during his time as Governor of Zamfara State.
