The Peoples Democratic Party in Enugu State has plunged into rogue politics characterized by defamation and outright falsehood, a conduct that falls far below the dignity expected of any true PDP chieftain.
At the center of this controversy stands Chief Samson Chukwu Nnamani, popularly known as Odera, a respected party leader and formidable gubernatorial aspirant whose rising influence has clearly unsettled his rivals ahead of the 2027 elections.
Chief Samson Chukwu Nnamani has earned widespread admiration through his resolute commitment to the party and his people. He has proudly rebranded the face and name of the PDP in Enugu State with huge contributions toward the survival and progress of the party, including assisting to bring the state office into proper shape, supporting delegates generously, and standing firmly with all Enugu people during the national convention.
His aspiration embodies transparency, integrity, and genuine service, reinforced by impactful philanthropic initiatives through the Odera Helping Hands Foundation as well as consistent advocacy for good governance, youth empowerment, and economic development across the state. In a sane and fair contest, Chief Nnamani has no real contender, a reality that has driven his co-aspirant and some desperate party chieftains to connive and orchestrate this kangaroo suspension as a last resort to eliminate him from the gubernatorial primaries.
In sharp contrast, his main opponent presents a picture of politics of shame and duplicity. This individual forcefully resigned from a ministerial position amid serious allegations of UNN certificate forgery, yet he has provided no verifiable evidence of formally joining the PDP. He has never contributed meaningfully to the progress of the party, failed to attend the national convention, and continues to shy away from openly declaring the party he belongs to or aspires under.
Despite not defecting officially or proudly, his media machinery is now aggressively circulating this illegal suspension against a dedicated party loyalist like Chief Nnamani. Many stakeholders view this as a calculated act of sabotage, where vague allegations of anti party activities were made without any prior invitation to a disciplinary panel, fair hearing, or adherence to the PDP constitution. The suspicious timing, coming shortly after a successful screening and just days before the primaries, further exposes the desperate connivance aimed at tilting the playing field toward an unqualified candidate.
This episode has triggered widespread condemnation, with legal experts declaring the suspension null and void due to its clear violation of natural justice and democratic norms. Supporters of Chief Nnamani, who enjoy strong organic backing from youths, women, and communities across all 17 local government areas, remain undeterred. Plans are underway to challenge the suspension through appropriate legal channels, while calls intensify for the national PDP leadership to intervene and halt these acts of internal sabotage. Far from weakening his momentum, the controversy has galvanized his base and underscored the stark choice facing Enugu PDP members, between authentic loyalty, experience, and inclusive progress on one side, and politics of defamation, certificate controversies, and hidden agendas on the other.
