No Vacancy in Aso Rock Until 2031, Northern Politicians Should Wait – Arewa Youths

The Arewa Youth Assembly has thrown its weight behind the re-election bid of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027, declaring that there is no vacancy in Aso Rock until 2031. The group insists that the North should exercise patience and respect Nigeria’s informal power rotation arrangement by waiting for its turn after the completion of Tinubu’s potential second term.

In a strongly worded position, the Arewa Youth Assembly emphasized that supporting President Tinubu’s return to office would ensure continuity of ongoing reforms and national development projects. The youths argued that any attempt by northern politicians to contest the 2027 presidential election would disrupt the established zoning principle that has helped maintain political balance across the country’s major regions.

The assembly urged political actors from the North to focus on consolidating support for the current administration rather than engaging in premature campaigns. They believe that allowing Tinubu to serve a full second term will provide the necessary stability for the administration to deliver lasting dividends of democracy, particularly in critical sectors such as the economy, security, and infrastructure.

This declaration comes amid growing political conversations and positioning ahead of the 2027 general elections. The Arewa Youth Assembly’s stance is expected to influence discussions within northern political circles and spark debates on the sustainability of informal zoning arrangements in Nigeria’s complex democratic journey.
