The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Enugu State, Samson Chukwu Nnamani, has denied allegations of threatening the life of the party’s South-East National Vice Chairman, Ray Nnaji.

Reacting to claims published by Daily News Nigeria, Nnamani described the allegation as false and unfounded, insisting that he neither threatened nor intimidated the party chieftain at any time.

According to Nnamani, the disagreement stemmed from internal party developments surrounding his purported suspension from the PDP.

He explained that the only action he took was instructing the management of his hotel to deny Nnaji access to the gym facility located within the premises after learning of his alleged involvement in the suspension move.

“I don’t have time for such things. The only issue was that he came to my house last Wednesday seeking financial assistance, and I gave him N3 million,” Nnamani stated.

“Immediately the money was sent to him, he advised me to honor the PDP meeting for clarification, but I told him I was on drip and could not attend.”

The PDP governorship candidate further alleged that he later received information indicating that he had been purportedly suspended from the party, prompting him to restrict Nnaji’s access to the gym facility for security reasons.

“So, I instructed my manager to stop him from using my gym because such a person could be dangerous. Maybe he thought I would ask him to refund the money, but I gave him the money wholeheartedly,” he added.

Nnamani challenged Nnaji to present evidence supporting the allegation of threat to life.

“Let him provide evidence of any threat to his life as he claimed,” he said.

The development is the latest sign of growing tension within the Enugu PDP ahead of the 2027 governorship election, amid increasing disagreements among party stakeholders over internal political alignments and disciplinary actions.
